WORD problem after Vista update installed 10-01-08

Vista updates installed overnight whacked out my Word -- won't allow me to
mouse click anywhere within a document, although I can still click on the
ribbon and taskbar.

I can use the mouse (in this case a touchpad on a laptop) in any other
Office program, including Outlook and Explorer.

Help, please, I'm desperate!

I have the same problem ... Any fix? Can I remove the update to get red of
the problem? was this tested by Microsoft before release ...?
